Several months ago I reviewed Fabric Fusion. I thought it made an excellent option for finishing your own needlework. I hoped the sheets would be even better. Instead I found lots of problems with this product.
When I opened the package I could not get the sheets out, Finally by tearing open the entire back, I could get out one large sheet that was four of the smaller advertised sheets together. I was never able to remove the fifth sheet.
The directions tell you to cut the sheet to the size of your item, this was easy to do. The next step is to peel off the protective paper from one side. This is quite easy to do if you have cut from an edge. On the edges there is an overhang of paper that’s easy to grip. I placed the exposed side on my needlework, although the short instructions on the package don’t tell you this.
These were the easy steps. Next the paper is supposed to be peeled from the other side. There was no overhang here. I could not get any part of it up with my fingernails. In order to remove it, I had to score the paper with one blade of the scissors to make a slit where I could grab the backing. The entire time I did this I worried I would rip the thin layer of adhesive.
The adhesive is very sticky. Although this was not a problem for my small item, I could see it causing difficulties for larger items that were not stiff. What if the adhesive stuck to itself. Could you get it apart?
Although I was able successfuly to finish my project. I would not recommend these sheets for finishing; use the liquid instead.
