If you like to finish your own needlepoint but aren’t good at traditional finishing, you often struggle to find items that are high style and high quality but different from the ordinary. I know I always struggle with this.
That’s why I was so excited to learn about Point2Pointe. Exhibiting for the first time at Dallas earlier in the Fall, this company makes a stunning assortment of needlepoint that you finish yourself.
I just got a package of samples from them, showing the wide variety of products. Each comes in packaged with the painted canvas and the silver frame for the finishing. All the silver, which is lovely, is sterling silver over brass. Some of the items, such as the pendants and wine charms come with the additional pieces so you can use them right away.
Four of the items are about 1 inch square: the olive oil/wine bottle stopper, the needleminder, the wine charm and the locket. Smaller in size are the cuff links. Larger is the cuff, which is sized to fit small to average wrists.
The number of designs in the line is astonishing. Currently there are over 100 designs in their painted canvas line covering everything from initials to holidays of all kinds. You can also let them know if there is something you’d like to see.
The canvases are all on 18-mesh and are stitch-painted. The colors are clear and bright, making them easy to stitch.
I also liked that everything was nicely packaged, so that you could give the kit easily as a gift. In some cases, like the stopper, cuff and cufflinks, the packaging could even be used later to give the finished item.
Retail prices for the items range from $30 to $90.
Finishing these items can be an interesting challenge but the company has videos of finishing on their website. Because Jan Rogers, the company’s owner, also does finishing (see pictures on the site), you know they will be good. I’m so glad about this because many other companies treat finishing as if it is a state secret!
I’m starting these this weekend and will report back with the results.
