The blog from Cedar Canyon Textiles specializes in great ideas for fabric art. While their ideas are shown on fabric, not on needlepoint canvas, many can be adapted to needlepoint easily.
I loved this article, you’ll learn about how to add sparkle to your stitching by adding beads to Backstitch. It makes for really spiffy outlines. In needlepoint terms, you’ll be making Whipped Backstitch, below, with beads as part of the wrapping.
The technique is done in two steps. First, make Backstitch outlining your area. nThe beads are added as your thread goes over each Backstitch. Because you stitched the Backstitch first, you can use this technique to outline only part of a shape. You can also use bigger beads than you would use if you were doing traditional beading.
