Tomie dePaola is one of my very favorite artists. He has designed lovely children’s books for decades. Thanks to my daughter, I learned that he has these lovely Christmas ornaments for his tree. This is what the site says about them,
To mark each Christmas season, children’s book author and illustrator Tomie dePaola designs a signature ornament to decorate his own tree. Tomie exclusively chose Marklin Candle to adapt these designs for fabrication. Artisans individually craft and hand-decorate each ornament from the finest beeswax.
I just love these simple designs, which you can see individually on the manufacturer’s site. There are 11 ornaments in the series.
This kind of simple design is a wonderful basis for your needlepoint projects. Because of copyright and licensing, your needlepoint versions cannot be sold. But they would be wonderful personal projects or gifts.
Why not stitch one and pair it with the beeswax version as a thoughful gift?
