These new scissors are from Sullivans and come with fingerholes in silver, gold, or copper. They are about 4″ long and have, as you can see from the picture, very large openings for your fingers. That makes them an excellent choice for stitchers who find the more usual smaller openings uncomfortable.
The design is Victorian-inspired, but not too obtrusive. The openings are embossed with a charming border design. The overall design of the scissors is enhanced by the small curves near the center.
These scissors work well for cutting the ends of thread and for cutting small skeins. I found cutting through larger skeins, for example Watercolours, heavy going. The smaller titanium scissors I use don’t have this problem.
If you’ve been using traditional embroidery scissors and want to try something with larger openings you’ll like these. If you’ve been using scissors with coated or padded openings, you might find the harder metal uncomfortable, I know I did.
At less than $25 for such pretty scissors, these make a great addition to your tool box. If you use a chatelaine, they will be lovely on it.
Sullivans is widely distributed at chain hobby and sewing stores, including many Internet shops.
