Two needlepoint designers have delightful holiday free designs for you:
- Hanukkah ornament from SJ Designs – it’s an oldie (2014) but a goodie
- classic holly chart from Liz Morrow (Lizart)
- Christmas ornament from SJ Designs – Christmas colors version of Hanukkah Woven Ribbons design
- Rainbow Gallery has a huge selection of free charts. Many of them would make great ornaments
Cross Stitch designers also have free projects. These ones will also work for needlepoint:
- Kreinik has lots of great free projects on their site. I adore this Bargello Tidings, pictured above. The instructions are for stitching it on Aida, but why not use canvas and finish it in a self-finishing frame, I am.
- Les Chroniques de FriMousse ha a charming heart inspired by Nordic sweaters (site is in French)
- Quilted Christmas is a charming quilt block design from Cyberstitchers (EGA’s on-line chapter)
- Hope ornament
If you know a sewer, here’s a adorable thread spool Christmas tree. If you like the look but don’t have spools of thread (my problem), just wrap floss or other thin thread around empty wooden spools to make your tree. The project is from WhimziVille. I see another use for more thread. (I’ve used 56 spools or cards so far on the Christmas balls & have 9 more to make by Monday)
