Earlier this week, Barbara Bergsten had a post about a class she taught on painting your own canvas with a name or monogram.
It’s a great post and has a detailed list of materials, photos, and links to instruction.
One thing she says in the post is that taking this class gave people a new appreciation of the work that goes into painting a canvas.
I can say “AMEN!” to that. I’ve taken canvas painting classes twice (including one from dede Ogden) and I’m a disaster at it.
I’m told you get better with practice, but my results are so discouraging I don’t want to practice, not at all.
I do better, when I need to with pens. Sine Judy Harper recommends the Ultra Fine Sharpies, I bought a pack last weekend. I have a lovely wallet with a space for a canvas and so I decided to draw on my monogram.
The result is pictured above. The wallet is teal and I’m doing the monogram in red with a white sparkly background.
It will be a quick project and an easy finish (what more could you want).

Thanks for your post. I cannot see the photo of the completed project. Is it there and there is something wrong on my end? Would like to see it. Thanks so much.

Nothing wrong at your end, the project isn’t done yet. You can, however, see the monogram stitched up on my post about this stitchable needlework tote at: https://napaneedlepoin.wpengine.com/?p=1581
