Who knows why (I’m usually bad at this) but lately I’ve been finishing lots of projects. Since I am one of those “serial starters” starting way more projects than I can finish, this is a big thing for me. Besides the ones I’ve done specifically for the blog, like the Mindy pictured above, I’ve finished and started several others. Today I’ll share them with you.
Finished
The Mindy mini is so pretty I put it in a frame from my stash and have it sitting on my desk. I also put into a frame and a trivet two older pieces that were in old trivets that just looked BAD. I also made the little Clover pincushion above. No planned use for it yet, but it looks pretty on my desk.
The nice thing about this is that it opens up some space in my overflowing box of finishing supplies. And I get a great sense of accomplishment.
I finished the Raymond Crawford Bell. The stitch guide for it and the other two colors and shapes in this music design are now available in a stitch guide for $10 (contact me if you want it.) Also finished recently is the Rogue Mountain Dew can pictured below. It took me ages and some false starts to decide how to stitch it.
My most recent finish is the Kelly Clark mitten pictured below. As always circles and rounds arehard to stitch, but I like how they turned out. The mitten is no longer made I think, but you might be able to find this design in a mini-sock.
You also saw the cookie I completed recently, above. It’s the first of many for which I have been collecting threads and embellishments.
Unfinished
My current Sunday Stitching project is this saying from Cooper Oaks, above. I’m going to need additional thread for the border, so I may stop for a bit once I have finished the lettering. My plan had been to use the same thread for all the background, but I may look in my stash to see if I have something that will work.
Also in process is a trio of shifts canvas from Two Sisters, not pictured. I’ve been having fits finding threads in my stash with these bright colors but that will stand up to the wear of being a wallet front. I think I’ve found them.
Next up is this Whimsy & grace round, above, inspired by William Morris. I think these delicate flowers will look best in silk and I’m planning a wool background. It is very like one of my favorite Morris designs, Trellis. I had seen years ago a lovely large hand-painted pillow of this & didn’t buy it. I have regretted it ever since. (If you have one you want to part me with, let me know).
My next cookie, this pinwheel pictured above, has the cookie part finished and I’m working on the jam filling. I have to cut out what I have done and try something else because I don’t like the look. (Mine doesn’t look like this finished one.)
Some of these you’ll be seeing in the next few days to illustrate some of the upcoming articles.
