It’s not as if I don’t have plenty of projects to stitch, I do. It’s not that I have them all stashed away someplace, I don’t. But every now and then I get what I call a “needlepoint fit.” Then I must stitch something. Sometimes, if I’m lucky enough, I can even finish it before it becomes another UFO. That was the case with this ornament.
I don’t remember where I got it, but it was inexpensive and came with the elaborate frame. The canvas is interlock and printed but well done. I figured it would be a great stash canvas.
I wanted some stressless needlepoint to do on Saturday afternoon and I pulled this out. I had it already on stretcher bars and with the background thread. I stitched the background in T Stitch using Rainbow Linen. This thread is thick enough that I did not have to worry about uneven printed lines or too open a canvas.
Once the background was stitched I used scrap threads for the packages. Most everything is stitched in Tent or Reverse Tent making it stressless too.
Once complete, I used the back of the ornament to trim my canvas and inserted it. As you can see it makes a delightful little piece.
Do you get needlepoint fits? When you do what do you stitch?
