DebBee’s Designs has come out with two books of delightful needlepoint necklaces. The books come with the pendant frame and all the materials you need to finish one pendant.
Additional pendants can be ordered.
These make charming and unusual needlepoint gifts. They are easy to stitch and easy to finish.
Although the threads used for the models are listed, Debbie makes it really easy to customize the designs to the threads you like.
The designs all use a variety of stitches and threads. The best thing about these little projects is how wonderfully and thoughtfully the project book is laid out. Each page of the book is a step in the project with large, clear diagrams and explanations.
At the top of each page is a table with the thread used in the model with space for you to write in the thread you used. This is fantastic if you put down and pick up projects or if you pick your threads in advance of stitching.
The finishing instructions are easy to follow. With all materials included in the project pack, you don’t have to worry about finding Ultrasuede or cardboard, or even a chain.
I will say though that you need to be aware that the finished pendant is not flat and thin. The pendant frame is glued onto the needlepoint and the finished needlepoint is, as it should be, somewhat thick. I don’t have a problem with this as the bulk is on the back. But some might find this thicker pendant without metal sides to be “unfinished.”
This is a great product, cleverly designed and nicely packaged. Making one won’t take you more than an evening and is a wonderful gift idea.
You can find it at your local needlework shop.
