A couple of weeks ago I ordered this project organizer through something called About the Needle. You can purchase up to four for what looks like a limited time. However the clock counting down seems to reset itself often.
The product arrived yesterday and the organizer is much better than I expected. It’s small (6×10), padded, and opaque. Although I prefer clear project bags, this little bags has tons of space, enough to store what you need for on the go stitching or projects.
The center of the bag is open. It also expands about 2″. There are snaps enclosed in the fold on both sides that easily come undone to expand the bag.
I found I could tuck a 5″ or 6″ project on stretcher bars inside it and the stitching was completely protected. This makes it great for small stuff. A nice touch is that this partition has loop handles for carrying that can be pulled up.
Next to the center area are two zippered pockets that run the length of the organizer. They have heavy-duty zippers that zip from opposite ends, a nice touch. These would be great for storing threads, notes or small stitching books.
On the outside there are additional open pockets on both sides. The opaque pockets divide the length into two. With these on both sides there are a total of four.
In front of them are mesh pockets. On one side there are two and on the other side there are four. The picture shows us the four-pocket side. Although my scissors fit in these smaller pockets, the points poked through the mesh. The opaque pockets are a better choice.
I can easily see this as my regular project bag for smaller pieces because it can hold so much. I easily have space for the project, all the threads I could need, scissors, extra needles, laying tools, and other stuff.
Although the bag is sold to stitchers I can see other craft enthusiasts using this as well. As you can see by the picture, it works for small sewing or quilting projects. I could also see it being used for some kinds of beading or paper crafts. Knitting, crochet and temari might also work if the material weren’t too large.
Now if only i could find these features in a clear bag!
