This interlocking hearts pattern is an outstanding way to use up bits of thread and make yourself a charming luggage tag for yourself or as a gift. You can make it as a 3″ round to fit in the Lee luggage tag or as a 2″x3″ rectangle to fit the planet Earth tag. All the outlines are stitched using a metallic. If you want a stained glass look, pick a dull dark grey or copper color. If you want a cloisonné feel, use gold.
The small diamonds are in the background and are stitched with the same thread. A variety of threads are used to stitch the hearts. Be sure that if you are using a variegated thread to stitch in straight lines.
Begin by using an extra-fine permanent marker to stitch the outline onto your tag.
Using the chart below, stitch the outline to fill the tag using your metallic.
once the outline is stitched, stitch the small diamonds in either Teny Stitch or tiny Cross Stitches over one intersection.
Fill in the hearts in Tent using a variety of threads.
Finish according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
