Even if you have not stitched before you can make this charming Cacti Box using floss, paint, and a box with pre-drilled holes in the top.
The tutorial is from the blog Delineate your Dwelling.
If I was making it I’d do a couple of things to customize it.
First I would look for a different design. I’m not crazy about cacti and I don’t draw well. Instead I would look for a simple icon image on Pinterest and I would enlarge it to fit the box’s top.
Use carbon paper to transfer the outline to the inside of the box’s lid. Following the instructions in the tutorial I would color it.
Once the design was painted, I would paint and seal the box overall. You could also stain it to make it look more woody.
After it was dry I would use my floss or ribbon threads to stitch the design.
Finish the inside with batting and then a piece of felt glued to the inside top.
The result won’t take too much longer to do, but will be much better-looking.
