A few months ago I saw on Pinterest a striking needlepoint star. It was very lightly stitched using one thread and one stitch. I have been thinking about it ever since. I rummaged through my stash and found this Raymond Crawford canvas that I thought would work to try.
Of course, it’s more colorful than the inspiration canvas so I can’t use just one color. And it has the lettering and gold frame on it. My initial idea was to stitch the gold in Tent, as a frame, and the rest of it in three colors and the big light stitch. Having bought my thread and sat with the canvas on my desk, I am, of course, going to mix it up some. The sky will be in the larger stitch using Silk Lame Petite. The city and hills will be in T Stitch using a different color of the same thread. The Wise Men in silhouette will be in T Stitch as well in a thicker size of Silk Lame. The gold will be stitched with Treasure Braid.
With my better ability to stitch in the car, I’m hoping to get this done quickly.
