Over on he blog, Stitch lady tells us how she is using leftover canvas and threads to make quick bookmarks like the ones pictured here. It’s a great idea!

Do you think one of the thread fray preventers would work on the sides of these canvases?
Janet M Perry says
I’m thinking no because the weave it too loose. I have not had problems myself with raveling but there are some things you can do if concerned;
1. Use interlock canvas. It does not ravel because of the construction.
2. Before you stitch, fold under the sides and stitch through both layers of canvas.
3. Use iron-on interfacing and Ultrasuede or felt on the back.
Keep stitching,
Janet

My church book club just read A Single Thread about needlepoint kneelers in Westminster Cathedral. We wonder if there are any kits available for religous symbol bookmarks. We are beginners…so kneelers are a liittle ambitious for us.
Janet M Perry says
I don’t know of any charts or projects specifically for bookmarks, but there are lots of charts for cross stitch items for Chrismons and Jesse Tree ornaments. Michelle Roberts also has a couple of books of crosses and other symbols made for her church in Houston.
I think any of these could be used for bookmarks.
Keep stitching,
Janet
