Update February 18, 2022.
There are so many wonderful variations of Scotch Stitch, that it’s one of my favorite stitches. This variation is one of the easiest, just break up half the stitch into Tent Stitches. I call it Half-Scotch Tent Stitch.
You may know the version stitched in two colors, which is called Arrowhead. This diagram is done in two colors to make the Tent Stitches easier to see
I used DMC matte cotton for this stripe. Matte Cotton is no longer available in the US. Nor is the Rainbow Gallery version of this thread, Matte 18. However thick matte cottons are once again available from DMC. I have lots of them I found on eBay, in stash stores and on Etsy from small European producers. If you like to stitch on larger mesh canvases, this is a great choice for a matte thread.
