Although summer is a quieter time in the needlepoint industry, there are still plenty of new canvases and products out there to tempt us!
DMC is now shipping their new colors of pearl cotton. There are 12 new colors that expand the range for violet, grey, and turquoise. The new colors are available in #5 and #8. Tulip is now making beading needles. #10s are available in both long and short lengths. Accoutrement has new needle minders that feature hamsa hands. There are four different designs in all. Henry VIII has his portrait as a new magnet, here by popular request. Accoutrement also has holiday magnets including a dreidel and no-calorie pumpkin and key lime pies.
Pippin has a new canvas out with a quartet of Converse sneakers on a striped background with white and bright colors. There is also a new canvas with five playful witches. Anne Cram has a stunning collection of six tiles, dense with tropical leaves and flowers. The designs are available on 10, 13, or 18 mesh. The tiles can be finished singly or put together to form larger items such as rugs. Alice Peterson has a new fashionable lady canvas of a woman seen from the back in a full-skirted pink dress. The Eiffel Tower is in the background. The company also has a charming new Holy Family stocking.
Kate Dickerson has new Lily-inspired belts available in several different patterns and colors. The belts have coordinating cuff bracelets available. She is also making several of her Herend-style (fishnet) animals in a new patchwork color combination that uses bright and light shades of pink, yellow, blue, and green. Her traditionally-colored designs in this series are now available as a brick cover, with the fishnet pattern covering the sides. The Meredith Collection has added a USA Santa to their state Santas series. Meredith has also expanded their series of VW buses to a total of seven designs.
Kelly Clark has a lovely new floral with different flowers in a decorated vase. It’s a fun canvas in black and white with her bright pastels. A new canvas from Judi & Co features a Carmen Miranda styled figure. A stitch guide by Tony Minieri is also available. JP Needlepoint has a lovely new geometric that features primary colors, simple flowers and plenty of patterns. A new series for them has three-tiered cakes with legs sticking out the top. Designs include Santa for Christmas and a witch for Halloween. Silver Needle has added both Dakotas to their state travel rounds. They also have two new Winnie the Pooh Christmas stockings.
Raymond Crawford has an amazing new canvas of a Texas longhorn wearing a floral crown of Texas flowers and plants, including cotton bolls and blue bells. He also has great new animal outlines that are black-and-white checks with big bows. I could see these easily as part of a great country centerpiece. I also just love his new Tallit bag canvas that shows a swirling sky (think van Gogh’s Starry Night) over Jerusalem. A section of the town, with a simpler sky, is available as a hamsa hand.
Pepperberry has a wonderful new graphic flower that is designed to fit into the Planet Earth coasters and jewelry boxes. They also have a clever new snowman ornament. She’s seen from the top, so the bottom snowball is also the outline of the round. It’s adorable. Patricia Sone has added holiday collections to her line of mini-canvases that come complete with frames. Needledeeva now has five of the trees from their Fab Firs series put together into one rectangular canvas.
Strictly Christmas has added a delightful hatchling from licensed artist Carolyn Shores Wright. The baby bird is available in pink or blue, singly or in a trio with colorful eggs. Another of their licensed artists, Catherine Holman, has a fun beachy canvas for “seaside cupcakes.” It’s very clever. They also have a new licensee, Tamsin Hinrichsen. Her first canvases are a welcome panel or a christmas stocking, both with a design of a light-strewn palm tree with a flamingo and an alligator.
Kangaroo Paw has added more designs to the line of polka-dot states with town names. The new ones include iconic beach towns in Florida. They also have more combos in the “Places to Love” series They will be expanding this popular easy-to-stitch series. Liz Goodrick-Dillon has a wonderful new canvas for Susan Roberts. It shows a rooster and hen. She also has a lovely new nativity panel. Renaissance Designs has a new canvas full of Christmas trees in pastel colors, just right for the Sugar Plum Fairy. The company also has a lovely new canvas of three pears, with the two yellow ones surrounding the green one, which has been cut open. A border frames this French Country desigh.
Point2Pointe has added new designs to their line of canvases to attach to wine bags. Rittenhouse has added new belt designs to their wholesale line. The designs feature mid-century objects or high-wheeled bicycles. For charted canvas lovers, Handblessings has a new geometric in red with black, white, and grey. The design highlights hearts. Mill Hill has outdone themselves with their perforated paper kits. This season they have a trio of Advent calendar kits with a total of 26 small projects. They als have new snowglobes, Santas from the Southwest, and other Christmas designs.
