You’ve probably heard of couching and know of it as way to apply threads onto canvas. But did you know that there is another kind of couching, pattern couching, that has its origins in medieval embroidery, is easy-to-do, and creates rich designs and backgrounds with layers of color?
I love pattern couching and don’t stitch it nearly enough. It also deserves to be better known.
Sue Dulle create two lovely original pieces that used this technique. They were prize winners at Woodlawn. She’s combined the two into a lovely new book.
Read more about it on Kreinik’s blog post.
UPDATE: Sue emailed me to let me know that currently the book is only available from her directly. To get your copy, email her at: sudu@Kc.rr.com
