Do you know someone getting married who would love some needlepoint from you?
I’m not thinking of a ring bearer pillow or something large, but something quick to stitch and something that the couple will always be used. I’m highly partial to Christmas ornaments because they are used again and again and are kept and often passed down through a family.
I’m very partial to this Raymond Crawford Mr & Mrs ornament as a wedding needlepoint idea. I love the combination of the striped background and the text. The stripes are wide enough that you can use many stitches on them. They are small enough that you’ll finish it fast. You can buy my stitch guide for this here.
Raymond has this striped wedding ornament in a gold & white scheme and a bell shape. You could use this guide and change the colors to stitch those.
Best of all, I love that this ornament can easily be customized. Here are some easy ideas:
- Change the lettering to silver, or change both the lettering and the top to gold.
- Substitute a dark green for the more contemporary lime to make something more traditional.
- Substitute a muted pink and burgundy for the red and dark green for all the green for a Victorian look. (The stitch guide has thread choices to do this.)
- Change the colors entirely to match the wedding colors.
I also have a stitch guide for Raymond’s Mr & Mrs pillow that can be customized to the wedding colors.
When you are done, either stitch or have embroidered the wedding date on the back.
