My friend Diane, who blogs at CraftyPod, has a quilting book coming out in about a month. Called Quilting Happiness, it has lots of creative exercises to expand your horizons as a quilter.
As needlepointers we can learn lots from the creativity of quilters. Too often we tend to pick a project that’s lad out for us. We use the colors that are painted on the canvas, we stitch the charted project in one of the suggested color schemes, we rarely venture into the uncharted waters of original design.
And that’s a shame. We can create our own color schemes, we can fill in an outline with our own stitches. We can be more creative.
Diane, along with a few other quilters is doing a blog hop celebrating the book. An exercise from the book is explained in detail in a post from Diane. She and each of the other bloggers do the exercise and share the results.
Last week’s exercise was about finding your quilting style but this style exercise applies to more than just quilters. Going through it will help you understand your choices in needlepoint, color, and even home decor.
Try it, you’ll love how your horizons expand!
