The wonderful thing about needlepoint is that no matter how much you see or stitch, there are always creative new designs around. Today we’ll finish up the TNNA coverage by highlighting some great new canvases.
Lycette has an ornament version of her popular Staffordshire Dogs. Little Bird brought 40 new canvases to the show. They include new sayings, stocking cuffs and several small ornaments. JulieMar has several canvases with dancing as the theme, including a series of “Dancing with the Stars” canvases. There are also gerbera daisies in several colors, and several beach scenes.
Birds of a Feather has some new animals including a Siamese cat and a swirl-covered sheep. They also have some new Christmas canvases in a less whimsical and more traditional style. Maggie has several different animals, including cardinals and a fox that have plaid clothing or body parts. Set in the forest against pale green backgrounds, these canvases are a lovely blend of fantasy and tradition.
Machelle Somerville has added new canvases to her popular black and white series. They include vases and packages. She also has a wonderful chili pepper canvas. Silver Needle has several new state canvases including Wisconsin, Kansas, Montana, and Nebraska. The Studio has expanded their line of toppers with several great pieces including Wonder Woman, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins. They also have the cutest new baby ornament I have seen. It’s a topper that’s a onesie saying “Earth Angel” You can get it in pink or blue.
Zecca has lots of new canvases for Halloween including new sugar skulls. I also loved their bunch of black cats in a spooky wood. Jean Smith has a great new pumpkin that would be wonderful in Long Stitch. Labors of Love has added several large figures to their line, including Frankenstein and his bride. Little Shoppe has a trio of adorable 3-D acorns.
Painted Pony has added a superb new Mary Engelbreit canvas to the line. It’s packed full of flowers on a black background. It would make a great stash-buster. The Collection has a new flag from Patty Paints that would be an outstanding stitch sampler. The more muted whites give it an old-fashioned feel. Renaissance has a line of glitter houses, available both as single houses and as a trio.
Sundance brought out some new embellishments. First are glow-in-the-dark beads. These are available in several colors. They also have new Gemstone beads, 17 colors/kinds of actual gemstones. The beads are 3mm, or a bit smaller than 1/4″ in diameter. The Collection also has glow-in-the-dark beads.
TNNA Coverage
This article is part of my extensive coverage of the Winter 2017 Needlework Market from TNNA and other new needlepoint products. Previously, there were two preview posts (here and here) and a post about what happens at a trade show.
The bulk of the coverage was last week. Monday had information about threads and tools. Wednesday began the coverage of great new canvases that continued Thursday and Friday. Saturday’s article was about trends.
Yesterday I featured new canvases from designers who were not at the show.
Are you ready to get stitching? I am!
