Although we often think of stripes as being in different colors and in being in forms of Gobelin, this is putting too narrow a definition of a stripe. These five stitches are more narrow than long and have straight edges, making them perfect for stripes.
Diagonal Beaty
The frog prince background in the picture above uses this stitch. It takes the counterchange aspect of Beaty and uses it with diagonal stitches.
Vertical Agora
Agora is a small diagonal stitch using two threads. It will give a very different look to anyplace you use it.
Wide Diaper
Diaper is a stitch from Susan Sturgeon that combines Mosaic ans Cashmere in columns. I wanted a wider version of the stitch, resulting in this variaation.
Playland
Named for a legendary oceanside amusement park in San Francisco (long gone), this stripe combines scattered Tent Stitches in the middle with Mosaic Stitches on each side. If you need a wider stripe, widen the center section.
Small Offset Kaleem
You’ll need an even number if columns to make this open stitch look good, Bbecause of the way the stitches fit together. It looks like messy knitting.
