For those of us who have been needlepointing for decades, the name Elsa Williams is one of the legendary ones. Not only did she make her own line of tapestry wool, she also wrote the Bargello book that urned so many onto Bargello, including me (used copies are still easy to find and worth getting).
Liz Morrow attended her school back in 1975 and writes about it in the latest in her Needlepoint Journey series.
