Looking for a background that’s easy to stitch but doesn’t have a strong direction? Consider Alternating Elongated Cashmere. The change in direction makes it a quiet stripe, that’s more obvious when stitched in a thread with directional light.
This Judy Tasch package has its lid stitched this way. I used Neon Rays + for it. The Iris below, from Art Needlepoint uses a similar stitch for the background.
