The first patch in my background sampler is stitched using Planet Earth Silk. The stitch is an alternating Scotch Stitch variation I call Alternating Dimples, below. Because the direction of this stitch alternates, it looks especially lovely in threads with directional light. This makes the stitches look like slightly different colors. Threads with great directional light include mot silks, pearl cotton, and Silk & Ivory.
I call this stitch Dimples because the split in the longest stitch makes it look as if the square is dimpled.
My apologies for the fuzzy picture, I was having [roblems with the heat.
