Last week I talked about Mary’s great post deconstructing pearl cotton. But that isn’t the end of her wonderful exploration of this popular thread.
Its all well and good to think about cotton in its package, but, all too often, we get disappointed with the results. Once I did a canvas on 13-mesh and used #3 pearl cotton, the “right” size for this mesh. I hated the bulky look of the stitch. If I had Mary’s post comparing stitches in different cotton threads, I would have picked #5.
Wondering about floche? If your shop carries it, they may suggest you try this thread, but few shops know the details about it. Read Mary’s post about floche vs. coton a broder to understand.
Finally, look at her summary of what we’ve discovered.
