As summer begins, many designers are announcing new products.
Atlantic Blue has over 30 new canvases. Highlights include new customizable travel rounds, rainbows in blue and pink for babies, and a lovely “Carolina Cotton Candy Sky” that is available as a round ornament or as a clutch. Penny Linn has new coasters and a Charleston round that were created for the company’s retreat with Morgan Julia. Also, the company has new sayings, plaid sleep masks, and a pontoon boat canvas. I love that one because my dad always wanted to have a pontoon boat vacation.
Jenny Henry has added three new butterflies to the Mindfulness Collection. The Ulysses, Blue Morpho, and Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies are available in printed canvases. Susan Battle has a lovely design of a leaping reindeer in Royal Stewart plaid. It’s available in pillow or ornament sizes. Elizabeth Crane Swartz has her iconic circles design available as a picture frame.
Moore Stitching has a new line of printed arabesque ornaments. Among them are Santa & elf suits, animal faces (penguin, polar bear, & fox), a gingerbread man body, and several more. The company also has a series of Peter Pan canvases featuring clothing for the iconic characters. Initial K has a new zigzag design, available in several colors. You can get these as bag fronts or clutches. Raymond Crawford has four new colorful cocktails in 3″ squares. Choose from Melon Ball, Blue Ocean, Rainbow Paradise, or Malibu Sunset.
Penny MacLeod has an adorable new series of animal canvases for kids in lovely light colors. The animals all sport patches in geometric patterns with geometric backgrounds. She also has a lovely large canvas of three ladies in coats and hats. Geometric borders along the top and left side accent the design. Silver Stitch has a new gingham-filled outline — Christmas trees. It’s available in five colors. The trees are also available on mini-socks.
2BusyStitching has a new round featuring faces from the beloved Pixar toys. SG Designs has added a Bunny Bark candy box top to go with their Peppermint Bark canvas. Needlepoint by Laura has new gingham sneaker canvases available in pink or blue. Little Stitches has new geometric belt canvases, all in cool colors that are perfect for summer. Hedgehog Needlepoint has adapted several of its travel tags to 4″ rounds. Seven destinations are available now s printed canvases, with more coming. In conjunction with Kangaroo Paw, there are 12 sorority travel tags, with five more coming this summer.
Rachel Barri has two new nutcrackers, one inspired by Hermes and one by Pucci. She also has a new 13-mesh canvas of pastel stripes and the magic words. Speaking of nutcrackers, Needlepoint to Go has added six mini double-sided nutcrackers to their line. Wipstitch has added new color choices to their dirty word coasters. My favorite is the one with bright Pop Art color combos like blue and green and yellow and pink.
DMC has added a new series of designer kits in several types of needlework. There are five new needlepoint kits, all with printed canvas and threads. The designs would be great for beginning stitchers. JP Needlepoint has a “Don’t just sit there – needlepoint!” canvas with two borders, crayon-bright hearts and a black-and-white check. She also has a new raccoon canvas in a Mid-Century Modern style with patterns throughout the beastie’s face. I just love the cheeky style of this fellow. Finally, JP has a striking Virgin Mary canvas in a southwest style.
Needlepoint by Laura is carrying acrylic coasters and trays. The 4″ square coaster has a 1/2″ opening. The 6″ square tray can be bought with either a 1/4 or 1/2″ opening. Cheryl Schaeffer has a new 3-D patriotic beach house on 13 mesh. NeedlePaint has new dog collars for any dog that can be personalized or not. My favorite is the rainbow tie-dye one. The company also has tools that let you design your own key fobs or dog collars.
The Virtual Needlepoint Show is this weekend. Look for more new product articles on Monday.
