Mimi in Stitches has a neat collaboration with Stitch Stash, a shop in Delaware. Mimi is making letter patches in your choice of three colors and three fonts. The bordered letters come on canvas individually, making it easy to spell names or words. I saw them appliqued on a tote where they were so cute.
With both virtual and in-person markets happening, there are plenty of exciting new needlepoint products out there. I’ll be posting product news on Mondays and Thursdays. At the end of each post, there will be links to the articles so far.
I do not post pictures or links to the items I describe. That’s because my commitment to you is to provide accurate public information. Because many designers and companies do not have current information available, by not including this information, I am being fair to all. Contact your LNS or the designer for more information. Planet Earth has ten new beginner kits with designs by Susan Sagent. Each comes packaged in a pretty bag with canvas, wool, needle, and instructions.
Needlepaint has several new computer-printed designs. Unicorns on a medieval-inspired flower background are available as a full-sized stocking, two ornaments, and a mini-sock. You’ll love the candy-striped horn. They also have new kits of Beatrix Potter characters in that characteristic style. You’ll find many of your favorite characters on pillows, birth samplers, ornaments, full and mini stockings, and more. They have also added a new line of letter designs. Geometric patterned letters surrounded by flowers are available as custom name kits. There are also letters with balloons or letters with icons available as an alphabet or as custom names.
Designs by Petei (distributed by Painted Pony) has a great new series of Santa rounds. The 18-mesh rounds are 3.25′ in diameter and show Santas from Africa, Iceland, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and Ireland. The ornaments show the head only with distinctive hats and other features. New from Elizabeth Bradley are three blue perennial cushions designed by Vernon Kirk (of Kirk & Bradley). Audrey Wu has added four new passport stamp designs. Set your sites on saamps for Wahington DC, Orlando, Chicago, or Hollywood.
Kate Dickerson’s new artist, Sally Eckman Roberts, has a delightful lab in sweater design that’s available as a pillow or a rectangular ornament. You can choose from a yellow lab in a red sweater, a chocolate lab in a green sweater, or a black lab in a blue sweater. Eye Candy has a new puzzle geometric canvas in red, white, and blue. It’s available in either 13 or 18 mesh. Holly Jolly is the newest word canvas with a blocky background in Christmas colors. There is also a new Easter train with a locomotive and four cars.
Laura Perin has a new charted canvas project, Four Floral Squares, with four different small projects with floral centers, each in different colors. Each square is 5.5″. Planet Earth has new Halloween ornament kits. These include canvas, self-finishing round, silk thread, a gift bag, and instructions. NBL has a new series of modern TV show canvases. Popular show titles appear in a TV frame, making for an unusual ornament.
Raymond Crawford has several new glasses cases. My favorite is City Lady with a Breakfast at Tiffany lady in a big hat and sunglasses. He also has two fun fawns carrying decorated Christmas trees. Raymond has also been inspired by brands from his childhood and made canvases for A&P and for Green Stamps. Each is about 4.25 inches. Canvas Art by Barbie has new inserts for the Planet Earth boxes. Needlepoint by laura has new lifetime ticket canvases that can be made for any team.
Ditto! Designs has charming new fruit, vegetable, and flower designs in its quirky folk-art style. Jeni Sandburg has a new pearl clutch and a geometric glasses case, both available in two colors. Thorn Alexander has two new Backgammon boards, one is a geometric, while the other features flowers. Sara Fitz (distributed by The Collection) has two nautical brick covers. One features buoys. The other has a whale wearing a ring floatie. She also has individual ornament canvases of both designs as well as a slew of other beach vacation designs.
Planet Earth has added new colors to its Passport covers. They are available in white, light pink, aqua, red, black, hot pink, and navy. I learned over the weekend that the passport covers have RFID protection. RFID protection keeps others from reading the information on your passport, credit card, or ID. The company’s popular bee wallets are available in three new colors; Smokey green with a plum interior, hot pink with a lime interior, and red with a white interior.
Planet Earth also has a new ring box. Lined with their signature striped fabric, the boxes are 2″ square. NPJ, the new company for Pointe 2 Pointe, has adorable leather key fobs with a 1″ square insert. Rachel Bari has added alligator textures to her choices for passport cover. They are available in navy, red, or brown.
In thread news, Planet Earth will be introducing a lovely line of handpainted overdye threads. The tree colors I saw were subtle gradations of white that were gorgeous. The Planet Earth stranded silk is undergoing some changes. Going forward, it will be an eight-strand thread, hence the new name. They will also be adding 20 new colors to the line. Treenway Silks has added some limited edition colors to their 65 Roses line. The colors differ depending on the thread.
