Did you know that I have a free question and answer service called Ask Janet? There you can ask about anything except specific stitch suggestions and I’ll answer you, for free, usually within 48 hours.
I love to dig out the answers for you. Along with the more usual questions about canvases and basic needlepoint questions, I’ve helped:
- people identify the technique on old needlework
- identify a thread used in fly tying
- helped a novelist with facts for his detective novel
and tons more.
Remember that the service is free. If I can’t help, I’ll try to send you to other resources that can.
Just remember if you have a needlepoint question, Ask Janet.

This may seem like a question from way out in left field but, I am narrating an audiobook with the word ‘Hardanger” in it many times. I have listened to several different ways to pronounce it. Can you help me?
Thank you. Susan Boyce
I pronounce it har ( as in hardy-har-har) dan (like the name) ger (like grrrrr).
Keep Stitching,
Janet
Hi, i really need to give you a picture of this item…..long story about my life but i am not getting into it. I have memory issues. I have this beautiful piece that is 2/3 of the way done. No memory of doing it, no pattern/directions which i had to have bases on it! I just wondered if you could tell me anything about it. I wish i could get a pattern, etc!!!
I would appreciate any help!
Please send me an individual email using the contact form.
Keep stitching,
Janet
