My DH and were reflecting on this past year recently and we can probably sum it up in one word — challenging. We’ve had health challenges, house challenges, family challenges, and business challenges. Those are behind us now and we’re ready to move forward.
But if I look at my stitching resolutions, they took a hit because of all this non-needlepoint stuff. I did manage to meet my goals for finishing UFO’s and doing new projects. I came close of the stitch guides. Otherwise I did badly, only one book, no ebooks, no learning, and little progress on big projects.
Not on the list, but accomplishments were:
- thinning my stash significantly
- finishing lots of stitched but unfinished items
- improving the functioning of my office/studio
So what’s on my radar for 2019? First I know I will need to stitch 39 projects this year (clubs and classes). To that I’ll add another 10 and 7 UFO’s (I have dozens sitting around. I’d still like to stitch two big projects. In terms of books, I know there will be one printed book out, and, I hope, at least two ebooks.
I liked that I finished stuff this year, so I want to reduce the pile I have of finishing items by half. But doing this poses a problem — I have little space left for finished items & my family is small. I’m thinking of creating a “Models for Sale” section in my Etsy shop where these would be offered for sale at low prices. What do you think?
Starting tomorrow, you’ll see the new stitching resolutions in the sidebar.
What resolutions have you made?

I understand the dilemma of too many completed projects although it’s not one I particularly share.
It occurred to me that another possible way to “rehome” some of your completed projects would be to offer them to organizations that you support to use as a door prize or raffle prize or in a silent auction.
Happy 2019!
