Today’s post is a special message from Debbie Woodward of Painted Pony Designs. I want to thank her for the permission to share it here. Below her message are some additional helps from me.
Painted Pony Fans: two weeks ago, 80 images from my line were stolen and converted into graphed images. I have been working with a company that specializes in taking down the pirated images. I just found out a few minutes ago that the company has also taken down photos of my original hand-painted designs, in addition to the graphed images. They have sent messages to at least one Pinterest fan saying that they are removing the (original handpainted) images because “I do not want the content to appear on Pinterest…”
I am so sorry if you receive a similiar message. I had clearly stated with the company what was to be taken down and provided an image to them of each violation. Please know that without my fans, I have no company, and no business future. Never would I seek to bar you from enjoying and pinning any PPD hand-painted or stitched image that you enjoy. I am always honored – and amazed – when someone appreciates my art.
I sincerely apologize if you have received a message saying that I do not want this content (the handpainted image) on your Pinterest account. I don’t know if this will affect your Pinterest account or not, but please refer Pinterest to this notice if your account is questioned.
This is another layer of why it is just wrong to steal original artwork – not only have my creations been stolen and marketed as someone else’s, but in an effort to protect my company, we end up upsetting our most appreciated stitchers.
Please re-post the heck out of this message, as I need to reach as many of my stitchers and shops as possible.

Some Further Insight
The group posting the illegal cross stitch charts on Pinterests pins them from a site, gallery.ru. This server is full of copyrighted information. My rule of thumb is that if I see “gallery.ru” in the caption or as the source (hover over the pin to see this), I do not repost.
If you own copyright to an item and it is posted illegally, Pinterest has help for that:
