There are lots of great new needlepoint products coming to shops and sites near you.
One I am really excited about is the polymer clay flowers available at Fire Mountain Gems. These are the flowers used in the cupcake pictured at the top of this article. Available in a variety of flowers and colors, the flat backs make the outstanding as embellishments. New in their Czech beads are small flower beads, which would add another great look to your projects.
Swarovski has some crystal shapes that are of interest to stitchers. Their bicone beads are now available in 2.5mm and 3mm sizes. These are great sizes for needlepoint. I can’t wait to try out their Crystal Rose Montees. Thes are small crystals mounted in a flar setting that is sew-through. They come in three different sizes and between 18 and 25 colors, depending on the size. There had been another company that made something similar, but I have not seen them in several years. These use their flat-back rhinestones, which are also available without the mounting.
Judi & Co has a new colorful toucan design on 13 mesh. They also have a Baby Dreaming door hanger available in either blue or pink. Kangaroo Paw has added 3” squares in rugby stripes with fraternity and sorority initials and colors. They fit into the Planet Earth boxes. They also have a new line of Halloween ornaments and rounds Decorations has a new series of eight precious objects based on Chinese designs and traditions. The canvases are 6” squares on 18 mesh.
Pepperberry has a delightful new ornament canvas of a red wagon piled high with wrapped presents. It’s available in two colors. Pippin has a new Christmas stocking filled with adorable foxes. It joins the company’s other animal stockings of polar bears, reindeer, or bears. PLD has added a new cat canvas by artist Vicky Mount. This one has a black cat caught in the middle of swallowing a goldfish.
Patricia Sone has a lovely new nativity with figures measuring about 3.5” tall. It’s mainly blue and white and includes a stable background. I think all the figures come with stitch guides. Kelly Clark has a new series of five elegant tall pumpkins. They are 6″ tall and feature lovely wallpaperish prints. She also has another group of five pumpkins that are more round. These have fabric-like patterns in sophisticated Halloween colors. To accompany them there is a series of five gourds in prints similar to the round pumpkins. These could easily be finished as stand-ups for a lovely fall centerpiece.
j. child has added a golf minisock to he line. It’s 6×4 on 13-mesh canvas. She also has an under the sea baby sleeping sign. Madeline Elizabeth has new sayings canvas, including one with the great sentiment ‘Be a Fruit Loop in a bowl of Cheerios.” A new canvas from JP Needlepoint takes a different look at two perennially popular home décor looks: flowers and animal prints. The simple flowers are against a turquoise-and-black cheetah print. This design also has a wide filigree border.
Tapestry Fair is welcoming new artist Christy Moeller with an intriguing design, The Birdcage. It has a pretty blonde lady with a birdcage hat. A colorful owl with “trust your wisdom” across his belly is by Kelly Rae Roberts and is new from this company. Another new canvas from the company is an abstract rose from artist Amy Diener. It comes as a ornament round or as a 12” square pillow. I’m stitching the ornament using ribbons and beads in a class from BeStitched.
Bohin has a charming new aluminum needle threader that is laser-cut into a dreamcatcher design. It’s available in rose gold or gunmetal. The threader is of the thin wire sewing needle type. Fripperies has new Halloween bell pull ends, great for creating a different finish for your needlepoint. In the finishing world Pinnell Leather has a new soft leather roll-up game board.
