This week we’ll stitch the larger olive pumpkin in the bottom left corner. I stitched it in Turning Lane, below. Using Contessa from Fabulous Fibers with one strand removed, and a hand-dyed silk from The Thread Gatherer with four strands.
I stitched with the silk first. But why did I slightly thin the Contessa? Although it is not necessary, I find it that thinning the thread makes stitching the second color easier. It also goes more quickly. I don’t always do this. But when I can I do. Thinning the thread this way is rarely seen on the finished piece, so it does not affect the end result. But it sure makes my life easier!
