I found a link to this tutorial by Tammy Tutterow on Craft Gossip. It’s for a paper card, but tose flowers are amazing and re something we can incorporate into our needlepoint.
There are three great ideas to take away froim this profusely illustrated tutorial. First, she uses distress inks to color plain white seamn binding. You could easily adapt this method to color parts of your ribbons to create new and interesting effects.
Second, her method to make the flowers creates flowers that are 3-D and created separately from the card. For us, we can use this method to make flowers that will stand up more on the canvas.
Finally, and this is my favorite part, those centers are actually brads! Round brads come in many colors and designs. By making these the centers you create something that can be added so easily to your needlepoint. All you need to do is push the brad through a hole or two in the canvas and then spread the wongs on the back.
I’ll be starting an exploration of flowers soon and I’m looking forward tp trying this.
