Shisha is the technique of attaching small mirrors to fabric or needlepoint canvas using only thread. The technique doesn’t have to be limited to mirrors, you can use it for any large flat object.
Shisha embroidery is lovely, but it’s a technique that mostly defeats me.
But it doesn’t defeat Mary Corbet. Over at her Needle’n’Thread blog she has a detailed tutorial on how to attach disks using the traditional Shisha technique. Not only is it full of information, there are tons of clear pictures, showing you every step.
What makes it even more helpful is that she uses solid plastic disks that are easy to see and has strongly contrasting thread for the two stitches. This makes the pictures even more valuable.
