Updated February 4, 2022.
This easy Tent Stitch variation uses occasional Cross Stitches to create a lovely pattern.
The stitch is Dotted Swiss, below. To make this stitch, stitch Basketweave, but with a twist. In every fourth row, cross every other stitch.
Here the Cross Stitches are done in a second color of thread. If you are using two colors, it’s easiest to use two needles, one for each color. That way you can make the Cross Stitches as you go. This is easier than fitting them in later.
You can also make this stitch in only one color of thread. If you do so and want to make the Cross Stitches stand out, go over the last leg of them twice. If you stitch over them only once, the effect will be much subtler, often only seen when the light catches the stitching (which I rather like).
This is a Scrap Bag Needlepoint project, so your threads may not match mine. For this stripe, I used Vineyard Merino and Threadworx Expressions.
Come back Tuesday for the next stripe!
