Sometimes having a huge thread stash gets me down. I don’t like putting threads away so they accumlate. I haven’t gotten around to labeling the drawers so finding a paretricular thread is a pain.
But I love having the choices the big stash brings.
The last couple of weeks I have been stitching a sampler, pictured above, for my current 25 Stitches class. I thought I haed all my bases covered. I had plenty of thread for the colored blocks and i had a brand new skein of the perfect background color (a Watercolours shade, blush, that is a pinkish cream).
On Wednesday night I started the background. No worries, it went well. However, when I stopped stitching for the night I left the skein out on the end table. I knew I would be stitching it again the next day. Come Thursday, it had disappeared. It had not fallen off the table, i checked. It had not fallen under the chair, ditto on that. I took everything out of my tote that has the current projects, ditto there as well.
That’s where the big stash comes to the rescue. Friday I went to the thread stash & looked in the non-nuetral, non-multi-color Watercolours drawer (yes there are three drawers of Watercolours). The original skein had been in the neutrals drawer, where white and creamy background colors live). And there, without a label was a partial skein that looked close.
I immediately tried it and it’s perfect.
Thanks to my large stash I did not have to start over.
