In a recent blog post, Melita talks about how she uses Whip Stitch to finish the edges of small items.
Although I’ve used Whip Stitch to finish pieces on cloth, I’ve never tried it on needlepoint. Based on this post, I’m going to have to do that now.
I”m off to look for something in my stash to try this on.

It is to finish the edges so they do not ravel. It is not to be seen on a finished piece. I hope that was clear. Melita

I’d never used the whipstitch on needlepoint until I purchased and stitched some Stitch and Zip eyeglass cases. They require you to whipstitch the top edge where the canvas is folded down. It was easy and did give a nice finishing touch. However, the stitch you show reminds me more of a blanket stitch. Either way they work.
