A while ago, I read about this neat technique by Brenda Hart. You stitch the entire canvas in one stitch, preferably in a single thread. I loved the examples I saw and wanted to try it. But I couldn’t find the right canvas in my stash. I couldn’t find the right thread if I found a good canvas.
Finally, I found a great design with this new round from Jenny Henry. It’s monochromatic, meaning a single thread will work. But it isn’t so dark it will be too hard to see. I decided to use Nordic Gold as the thread because it is thin and translucent. That quality will allow the design on the canvas to be seen. The sparkle will echo the look of a winter sky.
For a stitch, I picked Tiny Octagond=s, a stitch from Mary Legallet. I modified it by making the squares’ sides go over two threads.
As you can see, it’s working out beautifully. I’m getting plenty of sparkle while still seeing the detail of the canvas.
