Sometimes there are so many great new needlepoint products out there, I don’t know where to begin! Here’s the second part of our round-up. Part One ran last Thursday (read it here).
Strictly Christmas doesn’t want us to forget our four-footed friends with their “I love my dog” and “I love my cat” stockings. They include a tag to add the pet’s name. They also come in versions for homes with multiple cats or dogs. To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, they have a new squatty Santa. His flower-festooned robe also says “Peace” and “Love.”
From licensed artist Will Bullas and sold by The Collection, a great canvas for a child’s room features a goose reading a picture book between an aardvark and a zebra. Susan Roberts has a new addition to Ashley Dillon’s popular parades. This one, Snow Parade, features a snowman leading a parade of children. Renaissance has a new canvas with five flowers in bright colors. The modern folk-art style has simple leaves and flower centers with geometric patterns.
Pajamas & Chocolate has a new Christmas Village that has three houses in a snowy landscape complete with Santa and sleigh. Jean Smith has added a bold canvas of Pumpkins to the set of Farmer’s Market 14″ squares. Annie Lane’s newest designs feature many of her critters going off on an adventure. One has them setting off on a road trip, the other has them at the beach. Heidi has added rounds of the beloved Peanuts characters to her line.
Mill Hill’s spring button and bead kits include a Valentine heart. a cookie house, and April showers. Other new kits in this line feature flamingos and a hibiscus for a summery vibe. Also new to their perforated paper kits are shaped designs. The beach series has swimsuits and a beach ball. The summer series has a pansy, watermelons, and a hedgehog.
You know the princess & the pea, but JP Needlepoint has a great new canvas that’s a variation on it. An adorable white puppy sits atop a pile of pillows. His bone is far below him on the floor. Sandra Gilmore has a new canvas with a rosy-cheeked girl bundled up for the cold.She also has an adorable canvas of a mouse setting out on a trip, dressed in a pretty jumper. The background is a pastel patchwork. BB Needlepoint has a Christmas forest that features nine triangular trees, each in a different geometric pattern. Although it has traditional colors, it has a very modern feel.
Pippin’s new canvases include Five Sunflowers with the saying “Make hay while the sun shines.” They also have a new mermaid single, this one a boy baby, with the saying “sea baby” next to it. It would make the most adorable First Christmas ornament. You can change the outfit easily to other colors for a girl. &more’s 3-D canvas is a bunny box. To accompany it they have twelve Stash Eggs canvases. They are small and designed to use soft threads. You can finish them as one-sided eggs or put two back-to-back for a two-sided treat.
Kangaroo Paw has 3″ round sorority canvases that fit perfectly into a round box from Beth Gantz or any of the Lee leather items that fit these rounds. Voila has a set of three Sixties girls in hexagons. One has peace sign glasses, one has wild hair, and the third is in a hat made of roses. Gone Stitching has a beautiful blue dress needlepoint. It’s designed as a panel with a border and a shopping bag on the ground. Patti Mann has a new shops canvas with a dozen different village shops, including a diner. You may see this offered by shops as a club.
Raymond Crawford has the perfect canvas for Baby Boomers! It says “Old Hippies Rule” and has a mod flower, dove, and peace sign in the background. For those of us who like smaller canvases, many of his new series are smaller in size. Plus he has made two of his popular series of the nativity in a new size as well. He has new beer steins, including ones for Ireland and sports. There is a wonderful Northern California star that’s on my wish list (Maybe a future class? Let me know if you want it), and a new 5″ size of many of his popular wreaths. He also has a new series of short nutcrackers as well as one of ornaments for each of Santa’s reindeer.
Rainbow Gallery is adding ten new colors to their Rainbow Persian thread. These include several dark neutrals that will be great for fur. There are now 95 colors in the line on 20-yard cards. Edmar has added two new colors, a bright grass green and an almost florescent yellow to all their different rayon threads.
Alexa has a new stocking that has a creche at the base of a Christmas tree. Gone Stitching has new mezuzah canvases, some that can be beaded. The canvases also include stitched tops and bottoms. They also have a wonderful new dreidel that’s great for using odds and ends of thread. Point2Pointe has new canvases based on Scrabble tiles. Hilary Jean has a new canvas featuring a string of five old-fashioned Christmas lights. Pepperberry has new signs. These cream and black canvases have writing in an elegant script and include welcome and powder room signs.
